Basically haven't had any of the answering machine issues previously reported (bought this phone in June 05), BUT...none of the handsets will work properly with ear pieces. You can jiggle the connector until it works, but as soon as you move, the connection is gone. With this one major flaw, they are great phones but not to be used with ear pieces...which is why I bought them. They will go to eBay as soon as I find a suitable replacement.
