First thing I want to say about this drive is it is very very very quite, At night I have this drive running next to my laptop harddrive (TOSHIB 4200R 80G), I can heard the grinding of the laptop harddrive loud and clear and not even a tiny noise out of this drive.
Fast, yes, very fast, I don't have much basis for comparision but I benchmarked it against my toshiba laptop drive which claims transfer rate of 100mb/sec (pc mark 2002). It score twice as much as the toshiba. Here are some number:
Harddrive score: 1077

Cheap, I got my first one for $80 off newgg.com. Now I came back for a second one and the price went up to $87, but still, it is cheap. Roughly $1/gig. If you buy the 120G version you get a little bit more gig/dollar but I read a lot of review that said the 120g is not as reliable. If you buy one now from outpost.com you can get it for $98 with a $30 rebate. The rebate end at the end of August 03.
Update: One of my drive failed, tried to fix it with WD's tools but did not work. I suspect that it is because of the faulty power supply. I'm RMAing the drive and getting a new power supply
