Not quite "Room On Fire". And thats not a bad thing.
Pros:
What a considerable improvement on the last, Not a single bad track
Cons:
The comparisons to "Room On Fire"
The Bottom Line:
Im not going too say that everyone should go out and buy this album, but merely give it a proper listen.

Author's Review
Many bands suffer the problem of a second album, not the kings of leon.
Aha Shake Heartbreak is an outstanding record and unlike offerings by the strokes, franz ferdinand and the likes; each track is completely different to its predecessor. Every track shows a different variety of influences beginning with the Joy Division-esque bassline in "Slow Nights, So Long" to the funk like "Razz" and the blues inspired "Four Kicks", add to the mix heavy Neil Young and Rolling Stones influences. Not too mention some cracking chorus, a prime example being "King of the Rodeo". One of the best tracks on the album has to be "Soft" not only do you have great tune with an outstanding baseline but you also get some of the best, if a tad unusual, lyrics you will hear in modern day music.
All comparisons to the Strokes second record must come from people with no music appreciation. Many of the Strokes songs, as good as they are lack any real passion and feeling, KOL; However do not have this problem, A band getting progressively better as each year goes on, Aha Shake Heartbreak will surely go down as one of the great album in years to come.
