This is my first Macintosh computer. I switched from Windows XP and could not be happier. We bought the 20" model with 1GB of RAM and 160GB HDD. I was concerned about software before I bought it but did my research and found everything I would need. But, after using the iMac and browsing around more Mac sites I am AMAZED at how much software is available and how much is coming out every day (just check VersionTracker.com).
My wife loves how easy it is to do things that she has never been able to do on her own before. She can now take pictures with our digital camera, hook it to the Mac and email them to her friends in an email friendly size. On the PC she would have to first FIND the pictures, then that would be it. She did not know how to use the graphics program to resize them down so they could be emails. If she used Windows XPs email feature, it would resize them but it would not put the pictures in the email, it would only attach them. She loves the iMac as do I. She also wants an iBook now . . . as do I. :-) Great computer. It's so nice not to have to worry about all the viruses and spyware now too. Yes, we have a virus scanner installed and the firewall on, no need to be foolish, but we seriously don't have to worry about every W32 (windows) virus that comes out now. :-)
